  Milestone 3 – Future Planning

  We’re already at the Third Milestone! You are practically at the halfway point of the mentoring program. If you’ve fallen behind on the roadmap, don’t worry, there’s plenty of time to catch up.

  This milestone is all about effective planning for your future and the dreaded GPA vs. extracurriculars dilemma. How does one balance a strong GPA with clubs, research, and work? Which is the most important? Do you really need a 4.0 GPA to get into medical school? Ask your mentor what they did to improve their sGPA and any tips they have looking back. In addition, now is a good time to also look at the different medical degrees. Can you clearly articulate why you want a DO or MD? Why not the other? This is a good area to talk to your mentor about.
